Hi, I’m Veruca! I spent the first several months of my life living outside with a feral colony, fending for myself and eating scraps of food from a nearby restaurant dumpster. A kind lady was doing TNR (trap-neuter-release) in the area, and I ended up in one of her traps because I was so hungry and there was food inside. Needless to say, I was terrified to be stuck in there, but she quickly took me to the doctor to be “fixed” before going back to my feral family. While I was recovering from my spay surgery, the lady saw potential in me (even though I kept hissing at her – she was persistent!) and she couldn’t bear to put me back outside in the cold. After 2 months of love, patience, cautious pets, and lots of treats, I finally decided the lady wasn’t so scary after all and I let out a quiet purr. Anything to keep the treats coming!
I am the most playful and spunky one of my siblings, but I’m also the most independent. If you catch me in a sleepy mood, I will let you pet me and I may even purr. Most of the time though, I prefer to run around and play with toys then take long naps in my favorite cubby. I’m not ashamed to admit that I love to snuggle with good-looking guys, so it would be great if I got adopted with a friendly male kitty. Don’t worry, I’m nice to girl kitties too.
I am a very pretty lady with a unique coat. I know that one day I will be more comfortable around people – you just have to be patient with me. If you have one of those things my foster mom called “da bird”, or even one of those little red dots that I never can catch, I’ll probably venture out pretty quickly. Just make sure I take breaks if I start panting, because sometimes I have so much fun playing that don’t know when to quit! Because I’m still adjusting to big people, I’d prefer to have a home without any tiny people (or dogs – they’re loud and scary). Please come meet me soon! Don’t be sad if I hide from you at first. I promise I’ll come around, if you promise to play with me.
