Wow…has this adorable girl come a long way! When Sophie first arrived at Good Mews, she was very scared and tended to lash out at people. Nobody could pet her and if approached in the shelter, she would hiss and possibly swat at you. But after a couple of years of being at Good Mews, with volunteers spending time with her, she is much more accepting of human contact and even purrs when you pet her. You still have to go slow with Sophie and she still doesn’t love everyone, but she has finally come around to human interaction and we are so proud of her.
Sophie was born outside as a feral kitten. She was trapped and brought indoors where her mom cared for her for 7 years. While she was never very trusting of people other than her mom, she was happy and safe. When her mom had to move and could not take Sophie along, she contacted Good Mews. When we heard Sophie’s story, we knew we had to help her. If we did not take her, who knows what would have happened to her. Not many people are willing to accept shy, scared, cats.
Sophie would love to have another quiet home where she can just be herself. She will need a very patient adopter that will let her adjust to her new life at her own pace. Once she is comfortable, she will probably be a great companion. If you are willing to open your heart and home to a sweet, lovely girl, please consider Sophie.
