Good Mews is proud of the fact that every cat that leaves our shelter is already spayed or neutered.
But did you know there are currently 8 million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens euthanized in the United States every year simply because there aren’t enough homes for all of them. Besides preventing more unwanted puppies and kittens, spaying and neutering your dog or cat prevents diseases and prevents many behavioral problems that occur in unaltered pets.
The risk of mammary cancer is greatly reduced if you spay your pet before age one. Also, cancers of the reproductive organs are eliminated. Behavioral problems such as aggressiveness towards same sex dogs, marking or spraying in the house and roaming to find a mate are also eliminated or reduced if you spay or neuter your pet.

Haley has gone through a lot of changes in her life and she is ready to settle down in a loving home. When Haley gave birth to two babies, a rescue took the little family in. They were in foster care for awhile, but nobody ever came to adopt them. Sadly, the rescue group shut down and all of the animals had to find new placement. Haley and her two sons, Quasar and Spike came to Good Mews. We are praying all of the animals were just as lucky and made it into new homes or rescues.
Haley has been bounced around so much, she started off very nervous at Good Mews. I am sure she was wondering what was going to happen next! We assured her that she was now safe and we would give her all the love and attention she needed until her forever family came to take her home.
She seemed to like that idea so she started to relax and welcome hugs and kisses. Haley is such an adorable cat, all you want to do is kiss her little head when you see her. She loves attention and will make a wonderful companion. When she goes to her new home, she will need time to adjust to yet another change, but once she knows she is loved, she will be just fine.
Update-Haley has adjusted great at the shelter and just loves all of the attention she gets from volunteers and visitors. She is a social cat that enjoys being held and she will gladly sit in your lap for some one-on-one time. She is super adorable and will make a wonderful friend for someone.
