Good Mews found out about a situation where someone had over 50 cats living in stacked cages in a dark shed. They had one light bulb for light. Some of these kitties had been living in these conditions for about 3 years. Obviously this is no way for any living being to live. We were able to assist with some of the cats, and a couple other groups were also able to help.
Most of these cats have never been socialized and only knew one person: the person who kept them in the cages. They lived in fear and always wondered what was going to happen to them.
Sweet little Dinah was one of these kitties and when she went into foster care, she was terrified. She had never been in a home before and pretty much just sat in one spot. She didn’t know what to do with all the space she had! Dinah also has an eye injury; the result of living in a cage her whole life.
Dinah started to come around in her foster home, but she clearly needed more human interaction so she came to the shelter. Dinah slowly started coming out of her shell and realized not all people were mean. She is still a little skittish, but she really is the most darling kitty. Her face will just melt your heart but it is her spirit that will grab you. She wants someone to love on her so badly and will flirt for attention. She will hesitate, but if you talk quietly and ask her to come over to you, she will. She loves being held and will nuzzle her head on your shoulder. Dinah will need a quiet home with a patient adopter, but I know once she feels safe and loved, she will brighten your heart every day.
