Information and Guidelines

Welcome to Good Mews and thank you for choosing to volunteer with our organization.  Volunteers are one of the most valuable assets Good Mews has. Without you we could not accomplish what we do.

Being a volunteer is a very rewarding endeavor.  Whether you are maintaining the cleanliness of the shelter, working on a fundraising event, petting a cat or helping with adoptions you are very important to us.  Your volunteer efforts can have a huge impact on an animal who has never known love and friendship.  Sometimes the impact is immediate and sometimes it takes time, but in either case, the result is very gratifying and uplifting.

General Volunteer Requirements

Good Mews requires that all volunteers be a minimum of 18 years of age or must be accompanied by a legal guardian who is at least 18 years old when performing a volunteer function.  Specific volunteer opportunities may have other requirements about age (i.e. people who work beverage booths at festivals must be 21).

Every person entering into the kitty areas must sign an access agreement.  If you filled out the access agreement at the time of your orientation, you do not need to fill out another.  However any friends or family members you bring with you must sign an access form.

Please review the attached “Volunteer Information, Guidelines and Expectations” manual which includes important information and guidelines once you become an active volunteer.

Quasar and Spike were headed to animal control and had no idea what kind of future awaited them. Sadly when an animal ends up at animal control, the outcome can be very bad. Thankfully Good Mews was able to step in before they landed there.

Quasar and Spike, and their mama Haley were living in a foster home when the rescue they were with shut down. There were several animals that needed to be placed and if rescues or homes could not be found, they went to animal control. I guess we can say Haley, Spike and Quasar are some of the lucky ones!

These gorgeous boys are very sweet, but it takes them a little time for them warm up to new people. They have been through a lot, so it is understandable that they are cautious. Quasar is the more outgoing of the two and loves a good conversation.  When you spend time with him, he loves to talk and will follow you around, asking you a million questions! He is a fun guy and will make an entertaining friend.

Spike also likes people, but it takes him a little more time to trust. He is the quiet one and likes it when people sit with him and gently talk to him. When you put out your hand and let him sniff your fingers, he will let you pat him on the head. He is such a handsome fellow with that mustache, you cant help but fall in love with him.

Quasar and Spike have been bounced around a lot in their life and they just want a stable place they can call home. Please consider these nice boys if you are looking to add two cats to your family.

Quasar and Spike must be adopted together.
