Lend a hand to the Good Mews Fundraising Committee!
Many exciting things are happening at Good Mews! We were a winner in the Southwest Airlines LUV Grants for Good competition and received a $25,000 grant, we achieved a new fundraising record with the 10th annual spring flea market, renovation work has started on the new building, and Good Mews will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2013! It takes the hard work of many dedicated volunteers and generous donations from supporters to keep our doors open.
It’s been a while since an organized Fundraising Committee has been in place, but now it’s time to roll up our sleeves for the kitties and put together a dynamic fundraising team! A list of many potential fundraising ideas and opportunities has been compiled. Some fundraisers can be done independently from home and others involve working as part of team.
Experience the rewards of raising money, cultivating relationships, and generating enthusiasm and awareness of Good Mews within the metro Atlanta community. Creative ideas, a high level of energy, and experience with development committees or capital campaigns would be especially helpful. Maybe you are not able to be part of fundraising efforts at this time, but you know of someone with fundraising experience who would be able and willing to give of their time to help Good Mews? Please have them contact me at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Please consider joining the Fundraising Committee to help ensure Good Mews is able to continue its mission of “Finding Good Homes for Good Kitties” for many years to come. Azalea is a sweet girl that has had a hard life, up until now. She gave birth to 4 adorable kittens and took great care of them. Because she was allowed to have kittens, it is our guess she lived outside and was homeless. Someone thought they deserved a better life, so they were brought to Good Mews.
Because Azalea hasn’t had much of a reason to trust people, she is a little shy around them. She tends to keep to herself at the shelter and is trying to figure out what is next for her. We are hoping the next step in her life is a wonderful, loving home.
She is going to take some time to adjust to yet another change in her life, but once she knows she is “home” she will relax and learn to trust. She does enjoy being petted and will push her head against your hand, letting you know she enjoys your attention.
Azalea would love a quiet home, so if you think you are the right family for her, then please come and meet her.
Update-Azalea is a lot more comfortable now that she has had time to adjust. She has become a lot more outgoing and will often seek attention from volunteers. She loves to jump up beside them and rub against them or sit in their lap. She is an outgoing kitty once she knows nothing bad is going to happen to her. She will make a wonderful companion for someone that is looking for a devoted friend.
