When Pearl and her sisters, Pouncey and Cinnamon were 9 months old, they were rescued from living outside. Their mom knew they would not last long fending for themselves, so she brought them inside and provided them a safe, loving home. Shortly after, she fell ill and was unable to socialize them as well as she had hoped, so all three are pretty shy. But they were happy and well-cared for, and that was all that mattered. Sadly, 4 years later, their mom passed away and they needed a safe place to go.
Their mom was friends with a volunteer, so once space was available, they came to Good Mews. Pearl is a very sweet girl that will warm up to a new person with time and patience. One way to win her love is to brush her; she will softly purr to let you know how much she loves it. She’s not very playful, but she does show interest when someone waves a wand toy around. Who knows? Maybe once she’s more comfortable, a playful, active kitty will emerge.
Shy cats have a harder time finding homes than our more active, social cats. But a lot of our adopters that take a chance on our shy babies often report back at how great they are doing. With time and patience, they become more social and loving. Those are our favorite updates! And we know if someone gives Pearl the time she needs to adjust, she will be a loving girl herself.
Pearl would love to stay with her sisters, but we know it’s hard finding a home for 3 cats. But because Pearl is more independent than the other two, she can be adopted alone, as long as she has another calm, laid-back cat in her new home.
